Whimsy

We have a themed tree. It's theme is "Whimsical."

From Webster's:
theme: a specific and distinctive quality, characteristic, or concern

whimsical: resulting from or characterized by whim or caprice, especially: lightly fanciful; subject to erratic behavior or unpredictable change

I think that fits our tree to a tee.

spontaneous 1 : proceeding from natural feeling or native tendency without external constraint 2 : arising from a momentary impulse

spontaneity 1 : the quality or state of being spontaneous 2 : voluntary or undetermined action or movement

We had finished the decorating, and then when Hubby was at work last week I remembered that I had finally found and purchased ting. I had to ask the lady at Michael's what it was and where to find it in the store. Mari had it in her tree last year and I thought it looked cool.

Plus we have a cat and don't do icicles. We don't want him to eat them and die or anything. Sort of wouldn't add to the holiday spirit.

So ting was a good bling-y option.

Hubby doesn't usually come home and notice things. We have to play the What's Different In This Room? or What Do You Notice That's Different About Me? game. Oddly enough, he noticed the ting almost immediately, without playing the game. His comment — "The tree is sprouting."

sprout:
to grow, spring up, or come forth as or as if a sprout

It's probably most easily noticed at the top.

Does your tree have a theme?

  5. I have not heard of ting but I think my cat would like it way too much..hehehe. I have a small tree that we decorate with snowmen so that is our themed tree and then our larger one has all the family type ornaments on it.

  6. Our cat has brought the tree to the ground before. After that we attached the top to a small white hook in the ceiling with some fishing line. Scared him so badly though he never went back in.
    You tree is just super.

  7. I love the variety and especially the blue in your tree. Now I have to go and find out what "ting" is! You are right--dead pets usually do NOT contribute to the Christmas spirit :) Thanks for joining Deck the Halls!
