Quick Update

My first treatment didn't go as well as I'd hoped. I've been rather sick and had to go back in the day after my treatment for a bag of fluids and some extra meds to fight off the throwing up. They plan to do my pre-medication a little different next time.

I've had five or six crackers, a tub and a half of those little Jello's, two bites of banana, and a little bit of leftover frozen smoothie. The smoothie is the only thing that goes down without me gagging. That's what I've had since Wednesday. Pretty pathetic pickings.

Ginger Ale is my new friend, too.

It's time for my kids to do something funny to tell you about!

  1. Oh Kayren - I'm sorry you've been so sick. I'm praying they get the medicine tweaked so next time is better, and that you feel better now!

  2. Ugh. SOOO sorry. Hope they can adjust things to help.

I've heard (and also tried before) ginger (the spice) to settle a stomach that won't stop vomiting. A teaspoon in some water. I actually have empty pill capsules that I fill so you don't have to drink a glass of it. If you have anything that's in a capsule that you could empty and use the shell, that would work. Anyway, it works like a miracle. Same as ginger ale but more potent. Or maybe you could get it down added to a little smoothie?

Everyone is different, I know. A friend of mine that went through chemo could only eat grapes! It was the only thing that stayed down. Weird!

Hope you don't mind advise like that...it's only because we care for you, dear. :)

  4. Kayren, I am so sorry that your
    first session has been so
unpleasant for you. I am happy
that ginger ale works for you,
frankly ginger ale males me sick.
My magic cure for nausea is
CocaCola. I sip a can with a straw
and cool, not cold Coke is just
    right. Different things work for
each person. Big Bear Hugs, Myke

  5. I just went back and caught up a bit. Sorry there was a fire at the 4plex we called home a few months ago and since then I really have been in a bit of a limbo. Now, we are moved into a new home, because our neighbor's fire made our old home uninhabitable. Anyway, I'm glad to hear most of the cancer is removed and still sad to think it hereditary :(

the last 4 generations of ladies on my mom's side (my mom not yet-I'm predicting she'll be 65 and me, 55 years old when I get it.) have been diagnosed with cancer...not fun not fun at all (for us the ladies survived 2 years after diagnosis).

  6. Kayren, I forgot to tell you that
you don't have to drink coke, you
can get coke ssyrup at your drug
store from the pharmasist. I used
it for my children when they were
very young at the advice of our
    pharmasist....best advice I ever
    got for upset tummies.
I hope and pray for a better
    session for you next time.
    Hugs, Myke
