Nancy Drew Postcards

I'm not even sure when I bought my first package of Nancy Drew postcards (although I can narrow it down to when I lived in Illinois). They are super thick, much thicker than your typical postcard, and attached in a flip-book style format where they are bound at the top with adhesive gum. There are (now were) 12 included.

The second set of Nancy Drew postcards came in a boxed set of 30 and are your typical style postcard. These postcards, as well as the thicker ones, are all reproductions of different Nancy Drew book covers.

I love Nancy Drew. I have the complete yellow matte collection. I had over half of them from when I was growing up and completed the rest thanks to ebay several years ago. I still want to be Nancy Drew when I grow up.

But this is about my postcards and what I did with them.

I purchased three ready-made frames from Wal-Mart.

Figuring out which ones I wanted to include was probably the hardest thing I did.

The pictures on identical titles changed over the decades, so some of the postcard pictures were a little more antiquated than others (think hairstyles and clothing).

I tried to be sort of consistent in the style I was picking, and they were the ones that would usually be found on the yellow matte covers like I have. Many of the older ones were from when the books had dust jackets.

It's hard to take a picture of something with a glass front and not get a glare!

They are hanging up in my personal scrapbooking/crafting area. Yes, which is still builder beige along with the rest of the house.

Maybe someday I'll have a little detective office up there, too!

Very nice! I've never heard of the postcards! The books were my very favorite around 4th and 5th grade. In fact, that summer I was completely hooked and couldn't put them down. My sisters were suntanned from playing outside all summer and I was still lily white from staying inside reading!

Omigosh, how fun! I loved reading Nancy Drew when I was growing up -- I think they helped to make me a lifetime reader. :) Love your display!

Love it! I have been a ND fan all my life. I have been working on the collection myself - but trying to find vintage ones. I'm also collecting the old Bobbsey Twins books - another favorite!

Oh, Kayren, you did a fantastic job with the Nancy Drew postcards! They look so nice displayed like that!

Very special collection of books as well. I read many of the books (yellow) when growing up.

I LOVED LOVED LOVED Nancy Drew all my life! I remember reading my first book in 1990. I collected them too...bought them between 10 cents and a dollar from second hand stores. I'm sure they'd be way more than that now! I had an entire box, was collecting them and then I had a midnight move out of my Mom's place. Left my 30 Barbies and 20 Nancy Drew books :( Then she gave them away.

I'm so jealous:) These are really great!! I love to frame postcards anyway...and Nancy Drew?!?! Well, that's just a great combo:)

I read all her books in 5th grade and then many times over since then. Heck, I still like to read one once in a while! I collect them, too, although I haven't completed my collection yet. I've been trying to get as many as possible with the blue/white endpapers, but I know some of the later ones didn't have those. I think the ones past The Thirteenth Pearl are just not the real deal--what's your take on those?

Never heard of Nancy Drew postcards. The books were a big part of the summer of my 12th. year at the beach!

I love this idea. It would be perfect in the library I'm going to have in my house someday (read - when the children are grown and gone...!). I never knew they made Nancy Drew postcards. I have about 1/2 of the yellow bound books and a few of the blue that belonged to my mother or I've purchased from ebay and antique stores. Need to get on the ball and complete the collection. Isn't Nancy the best?!

I was just browsing for the ND postcards and came across your post! What a great idea! Now I will need two sets! One for collecting and one for framing - but that will be okay because I can actually use the extras from the box that I don't frame. Thanks for the great idea! :)

I collect Nancy Drew and have all the original text picture covers that were printed, and almost all the revised texts. I try to get the earlier ones that were printed in the 60's whenever I can because that's when I first discoverd Nancy Drew and devoured the books. Everyone knew what to get me for my birthday, LOL, and I have many cherished inscriptions in my books from my childhood. Once I got into collecting them again (about two years ago) and found out about all the different printings - various book formats, different cover art, original and revised texts - I started collecting some other books too. I have almost all the white spine dustjackets on various types of books. Mostly tweeds as they are generally in better shape and less expensive.

Everyone knows about ebay but I just wanted to mention that there are several ND sellers on Bonanzle.com now that ebay has increased their fees so much. I sell my extras and some other books there (to support my habit), but I'm one of the smaller sellers. There is a group of us that run sales together at the same time - next one is August. Take a look if you are interested in vintage children's series books.

Now to find those postcards! ;)
