Punch Needle

I usually do counted cross-stitch when I do needlework. It's unusual for me to try new types of needlework, and doing counted cross-stitch on perforated paper is out-of-the-box for me. I don't even do stamped cross-stitch.

I'd seen all these cute punch needle designs in a cross-stitch store in Virginia. I never broke down and got one because I thought it would be too difficult to do. Then I was in Michael's here in Michigan one day and I saw the cutest punch needle designs with bright colors, including my favorite orange and fuschia. I did break down and get one to try.

I worked on it during ball games in the summer sitting in my chair and if I had to wait in the van for a little while somewhere I'd pull it out. Here it is all finished, and I even framed it myself.

The frame has an easel or can be hung on the wall, which is what I plan to do after I finish my next two projects. I went back to the store and found two more kits with coordinating colors, and when I finish them I'll hang them all up together.

This post is linked to Show and Tell Friday hosted by Cindy at My Romantic Home.

Thanks for joining in! Doesn't it feel good to be #1 haha...I always love that!

Every time I see needlework on someone's blog I want to run to Michaels and buy a new project! The only problem is...I have so many unfinished ones in my closet!

Yours is so cute and that looks like one I might even be able to finish!

Amazing!!! I think I like the easel idea instead of hanging it up on a wall...it shows it off more in my opinion. Great work! It must have taken a lot of patience.

My Show n Tell is posted. Hope you can visit! There's a 'treat' for you also, if you'd like!!! [on my sidebar] Head on over if you find time. Happy Friday.

Ohh that's so beautiful. I've always been afraid to step out of the box too. But look what happens when we do! Beautiful and I love the matting and framing!

Oh I like that! I used to do a lot of counted cross stitch. I just might have to check punch needle the next time I am in the craft store.

You did a lovely job! I have always wanted to try this but have been too scared to try. I might have to give it a go. We homeschool to. My girls are 13 and 8. Do you think this could be a project for them to try or do you think it would be too challenging?

I bought one of those kits for my daughter at Joann's because it intrigued me, but it is still sitting unopened. I love your piece and think I need to pull ours out and get it going. Thanks for sharing - you've inspired me!!

Hope you have a great weekend!!

Is punch needle the same as working on punched paper? I am pretty clueless about needlework, but I have done several kits with punched paper and I loved them!

It's very pretty. I can't do cross stitch anymore because I have old lady eyes.

Lora ~ I'm not really sure what punched paper is, unless it's perforated paper and you do regular cross-stitches in it. I do that also for some tree ornaments I have.

This ends up puffy on the side that you are not working from, and of course the puffy side is the one that shows. It sort of reminds me of those hooked rugs, but I never did one so I'm not sure how they are made to compare it for you.

Hope that somewhat answers your question. :)
