Jesse James Ain't Got Nuthin' On Me

I'm pretty sure you all remember the childhood song Pop Goes the Weasel. Well, we use it as the tune for a song about prepositions. There are about 50 of them in the song, and it helps the kids remember them. I think the original song was on the girls' Abeka video from the fourth grade, and it's been a very useful tool in our homeschooling. The boys have had to learn it when they became third graders, and Caboose has hit that milestone now.

We were working on the song yesterday, and if you can imagine the tune to the first part of the lyrics along with me: All around the Mulberry bush, the monkey chased the weasel... We sing, "Aboard, about, above, across, after, against, along." Caboose just couldn't get that last one, but I'm not sure why. Here's what he sang, "Aboard, about, above, across, after, against the law."

I really promise I'm not doing anything bad to subliminally influence the opinions of my youngest child.

My younger sister used to sing "with the jelly toast proclaim" during Joy to the World instead of "with angelic host proclaim". We laugh about it still! :)

Betsy, that is funny! I don't really know how you'd keep a straight face while you were singing that one in church. At least we won't be singing our song their...(whisper)is it Willow?

I love that! When my niece Chelsea was quite young, she was talking about singing "her song" in church. My sister figured out that at Christmas they had been singing "Angels we have heard on high" and she thought the chorus said - It is Chelsea's Day-o!

Mari, "Angels We Have Heard On High" is one of my favorite Christmas songs, and now between you and Betsy, I'm sure gonna have a hard time with these Christmas songs in church. I'll sure think twice while I'm singing them and at least do a little inside giggle.

No, Willow is my big sis...this was my younger sister. You know, with three girls sitting in church trying to be quiet..EVERYTHING seemed funny....we would do that silent giggle that shakes your body...who knows what the people sitting behind us thought! Anyway, she was very young...4 or 5 and sang loudly and proudly. I still think of it today when I hear that Christmas song!

And Mari's got a funny memory there, too! tee-hee!

Haha :0) that's so funny! I do that with some words, and the one I remember right now is : Balsamic. I like to pronounce it : Basthmatic. Perhaps it is just the Artist in me, and nothing more! (My husband corrects me every-time he hates when I do it.)
